Would you attend a new Gala / Family Weekend?

05 July 2012 by Scunny Independent News

Last night a group of Scunthorpe residents met up at The Breeze Inn at Howden's Hill in Scunthorpe to discuss the possibility of re-introducing an annual Gala or festival similar to the TATA Steel Gala or the Family Weekend which was run by the council.

The group continued their work from the previous meeting last week, and agreed a questionnaire which has been published on line and will be circulated to the public at the Brumby Bash on the 14 & 15th of July and also sent out to schools.

As an added incentive to get people to complete the questionnaire, Nic from Breeze Inn in Scunthorpe has kindly donated a meal for two as a draw prize. All completed questionnaires will be entered in to the prize draw which will take place the the group's next meeting at the Breeze Inn on the 20th July at 6:30pm.

The survey can be completed on-line via survey monkey, or alternatively copies can be downloaded from here, printed and handed in to reception at the Breeze Inn before the 20th July.

Please remember that in order to qualify for entry in the prize draw, you must complete your contact details.

Copies of the survey can be downloaded from here:

Alternatively, the survey can be completed online

It was agreed by the group that they would attend the Brumby Bash (a free arts festival on the 14th and 15th July) in order to give out copies of the questionnaire, any one who would be prepared to help out would be warmly welcomed. Please contact Editors@VisitScunthorpe.Com if you are interested.

The group will meet on the 20th July at the Breeze Inn, Howden's Hill, Scunthorpe, 6:30 to discuss the findings and decide whether or not to move forward in forming a properly constituted group and committee.

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
