I've always found people in Scunthorpe to have a very good sense of humour, often satirical and always dry, I think the town generally is of a fairly sunny disposition, either in-spite of or perhaps even because of the rough ride it often gets nationally. Take a look at Iron-Brew.net a local fanzine web site where followers of Scunthorpe United not only discuss form and games, but also make some hilarious forum posts about the town and local events. An excellent local web site well worth a visit, even if you don't follow the mighty Iron! What I specifically wanted to bring to readers attention today is a facebook page titled "Moses Basket of the North" which takes a satirical swipe at the new cafe in Central Park, likening it to a Moses basket and, with some excellent photo shopping skills shows its resident fast asleep! Facebook link : Moses Basket of the North The new cafe is designed using a specialist steel produced at the Tata site at Scunthorpe. The steel known as Corton steel has a high copper content and is designed specifically for structures like this and the Angel Of The North. The Cafe its self seems to be a big success and was being well used today when I wondered down there with the dog for a spot of stick chasing. Anyway, have a wonder over to the facebook page and take a look at the excellently photoshopped pictures and have a light hearted chuckle at the comments for a minute or too, it might brighten your day - it did mine!
