Supermarket To Close For 8 Days

Sainsbury�s supermarket in Scunthorpe is due to close at 6pm on Tuesday 22nd March for eight days whilst the finishing touches are made to the store following a reported �7m extension and makeover. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us The investment has seen an 18,000sqft extension added to the current 28,000sqft Sainsbury's store in Doncaster Road and shoppers will see a new caf� on a mezzinine level, pharmacy, homeware & Tu clothing departments also the store will include new pizza and hot food counters along with a new carpark layout and egress. The work started last Septmember on the Doncaster Road store which stands on the site of the former home of Scunthorpe United FC � The Old Showground. The six-acre site was redeveloped at a cost of �7 million to open as a Safeway store in March 1989. In 2003, the Safeway chain was sold to rivals Morrison's, but a year later the Scunthorpe store became part of the Sainsbury's chain. About 100 additional jobs will be created alongside the 130 staff at the store with all jobs advertised on the Sainsbury's careers website. The store closes at 6pm 22nd March and reopens at 9am 30th March

Good news, but is it going to be that colour ? Its a bit murky. I would have thought it would be brick like it is currently. Any ideas ?

As far as I'm aware that is its final colour.

That's a picture I took last month, 24th Feb, so it's actually a bit more advanced now. I was in Sainsbury's today and it's looking quite impressive.

Hamst the time you spend for these stories really does you credit.With the car park being halved ,where are the extra shoppers going to go ? Why was there no public outcry about parking like there was about parking for the news baths hall project?
