Police and fire crews were in attendance at an incident at Canterbury Close, Westcliff, and this afternoon.
According to locals the incident started at about 13:30hrs when the police arrived to arrest a local youth, named as Josh Jackson, on prison recall. However before he could be arrested he had scrambled onto the house roofs on Canterbury Close. A stand off ensued, more police officers were called for as well as officials from Social Housing Landlord NL Homes and with the fire bridge to gain access to the roof lin. The wanted youth refused to come down and a game of cat & mouse was played out with him running along the roofs pursued by the police on the ground on both sides of the close.
The police helicopter was called to observe from the sky and after 3 hours with the youth still refusing to come down the police made a tactical withdrawal.

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.
Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute
independently with articles of their own.
You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.
Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
