Rivers of Blood

Enoch had it right.

Ever since this country gave up on the ideal of corporal punishment in schools have we seen an increase in anti social behaviour as the youth realise that they can do as they wish and not have any justice metered out on them barring maybe an ASBO, it has been getting steadily worse each generation with some estates in the land almost gone Feral, with several generations of the same blood line (cant call them families) all having the same blatant disregard for any kind of authority just as long as they can stick their hand out for the next Giro as it is the only thing they value.

They no respect for anyone's property or lively-hood just as long as they can go and loot and burn and throw missiles at the police knowing full well that the worst that they will get is a suspended sentence.

There comments made across social network sites that other cities are in for some of this mindless violence tonight, its about time the police toughened up and that we as a society listened more to common sense and not bow down to the EEC and the human rights bill which is causing the problem by not allowing us to meter out immediate punishment where needed.

A short sharp shock punishment works wonder, as those old enough to remember the cane or slipper will no doubt recall, you did wrong you got punished there and then in front of your mates or sometimes the whole school, if that wasn't bad enough you then had to explain to your parents and would probably get some more.

Ever since the limp wristed liberal minded faction in society start ruling the schools and councils have we had this problem, student's were no longer expect to do detention (the worst punishment they could expect now) on the same day of the offence (whilst it was still fresh in their mind) no they have a letter posted to their parents explaining that they would be required to attend a detention session at their next convenience.

It is animal nature to administer instant justice/punishment to a misbehaving offspring, you see it all the time on animal planet or watching David Attenborough programs and lets not forget we are still animals and that without the past learnings that mankind has managed to lift itself above other species and as we are seeing now we are sinking back down.

We need to bring back the short sharp shock tactics that worked for us so well, I wonder how many of the youths parents did not believe in it but now wish that it was available to control their kids as they don't know how to and now want the establishment to take control just as long as they don't have to contribute financially, I wonder how many of these parent will start to moan because of the increased insurance premiums just because they wouldn't tell their offspring off or find they cannot get insurance because of the way they let their estate become.

I'm afraid its to late in some of these estates the elder members/parents are probably buying the looted TV's off them, the same estates where the police fear to tread in case they get set upon and most of the criminal activities stem from and it will take generations for these to return to normal.

http://www.sterlingtimes.org/powell_speech.doc well worth a read

Its funny isnt it how the limp wristed liberals pulled the man to pieces at the time but recent events have proved him right and they are now wringing our limp wrists in despair over what to do, its funny there are polls going on the social network sites asking what to do and the general opinion is to go in with the water cannon and tear gas and or Army - Make it so

The following has the measure of Enoch, and is from a leaflet handed out by anti racist dockers when the east London dockers went on strike in support of Powell's rivers of blood speech (1968):

“Who is Enoch Powell? He is a right wing Tory opportunist who will stop at nothing to help his party and his class. He is a director of the vast National Discount Company (assets £224 million) which pays him a salary bigger than the £3,500 a year he gets as an MP. He lives in fashionable Belgravia and writes Greek verse.

“What does he believe in? Higher unemployment. He has consistently advocated a national average of 3 percent unemployed. Cuts in social services.

“He wants higher health charges, less council houses, charges for state education and lower unemployment pay. Mass sackings in the docks. Again and again he has argued that the docks are ‘grossly overmanned’.”

Hi Voice of Reason,

Thanks for taking the time to put this original article together for Visit Scunthorpe readers to discuss. I do appreciate the obvious time and effort which has gone in to it, and its refreshing to see a totally different perspective to what you'd normally expect on the site.

You may have noticed we've had the story off line for about an hour to read and study it in detail, and its now been restored as it was originally posted.

I'm worryingly writing this as the first rumors of race riots involving the English Defense League are starting to come in on twitter, and I find this very worrying but not unexpected as the radical right are going to try to cash in on the situation. I must say that from a personal point of view I totally disagree with the juxtaposition of Enoch Powell's fascist speech with today's troubles, but, testing as it is, the article is within Visit Scunthorpe guidelines for posting regarding incitement and copyright, and therefore stands.

My personal view does not excuse the mindless vicious thuggary and disgusting levels of violent behavior we've seen in our great British cities over the last 24 hours, my view on dealing with it would suggest addressing  the causes, not the symptoms as the knee jerk politicians all seem to be saying. Looking at the background to Tottenham, this shows a poverty stricken disaffected youth with no training or employment opportunities who have nothing to loose, and therefore no fear the consequences of their actions.

I will leave you with just one thought, again taken from a great public speaker and massively respected human rights activist, Dr Martin Luther King, who said "A riot is the language of the unheard."

And what are we getting now?
Cuts in social services because the country (you) cannot afford because of certain communities breeding like flies to increase the size of their Giro.
Higher unemployment because of certain communities breeding like flies to increase the size of their Giro.
Less Council houses because of certain communities breeding like flies to increase the size of their Giro.
Less in your Giro because of certain communities breeding like flies to increase the size of their own Giro.
What ever his political standing was Enoch was looking to the future of because of certain communities would take advantage of the Liberal minded sections of the community and now it is biting us in the ass.
This is not racist point of view there are just estates across the land where the Feral scum sections of society run free, think back to the Shannon Matthews "kidnapping" her mother could not remember how many kids she had and couldn't care less as long as she had her fags n booze and would probably in line for a Plasma TV.

The crisis that precipitated the spending cuts has nothing to do with 'certain communities' unless you are referring to the Budlington club community or the spiv community in the cities. It is typical of the Jeremy Clarkson little Englander bigots and bullys to blame the victims while bowing down to the establishment.

What certain communities?>,isn't Nockers speech about immigration not the generations of chavs growing up with little or no decency in their parental guidance.
Personally I'd bring back the birch use plastic bullets or even real ones on these rioters, then rebuild society for the decent ons left behind
These people are a product of a society their parents and grand parents created ,they are catered for and encouraged by programmes like J Kyle making them heroes or Big Brother making horrible humans like Jade Goody rich and famous.
In the 60 James Brown stopped the riots, can you imagine a vacuous twat like Peter Andre or Dappi (excuse the spelling)doing it?
X factor has some bint from N dubz who's claim top fame is robbing as a 14 year ,this is the problem not immigration

I agree with the Chav thing, I did have an article published in ET just after the Shannon Matthews "kidnapping" along those lines (I think I might edit it and re issue here) about certain communities having no morals or common decency and I suggested then that a solution would be to cap off child benefit after 2 kids, I will save that one for later.
Dare I say you are thinking I mean our commonwealth immigrants, I am not, there has been a flood of EU immigrants, since other countries have joined it, that are causing all sorts of issues regarding jobs that were making the news, even on the southern Humber bank recently, I am talking about certain communities have become insular to a point where they are cut off from society simmering away until some thing ignites them whether it be the police removing yet another uninsured car or jumping on this wave of criminal unrest sparked off by the incident down south, these communities are up and down the country not just in the commonwealth communities but the likes of the Matthews areas of northern towns and cities where as you said Chavs growing up with little or no decency in their parental guidance and seeing the gansta portrayed as the way to go.  this lack of guidance was helped along by the removal "loco parentis" where schools especially could deal with unruly kids, and where in the old  copper would clip the ear of a wayward youth long before they got to far down the criminal path and hopefully instil some common decency in them.

Dont forget, a dog is not just for Xmas its for life. a kid is not just for life its for benefits - innit

Would be interesting to read your "Chav" article, please feel free to post it here, or if the copyright now belongs to the ET as they published it, provide a synopsis under a new article and a link, am sure people would take the opportunity to discuss it.

I'd strongly recommend this book "Chavs - The Demonisation of the working class" all about Class Politics by a great new writer from the Salford / Manchester area, Owen Jones (you can follow him on twitter @OwenJones84), he's 27 and this is his first book.

Happy reading.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/peteroborne/100100708/the-moral-decay-of-our-society-is-as-bad-at-the-top-as-the-bottom/

This article in the Daily Telegraph ( a paper I tend to avoid) by Peter Oborne (a writer I tend to avoid) has a refreshing take on the reasons for the riots, putting in the context of the rich being as guilty of 'moral decay' as the poor.

The target of Peter Oborne’s article are basically politicians and wealthy business men such as Sir Philip Green and Richard Branson. Politicians aren’t necessarily the super rich but the majority of them are self-serving leeches when it comes to expenses and they deserve all the opprobrium they get. According to Peter Oborne, businessmen who don’t pay tax here but take advantage of the infrastructure to run their business are immoral – what tosh – without these entrepreneurs who establish and run business many people would be unemployed – this is their contribution to society; wooly paternalistic conservatives like Peter Oborne are just as bad as the aforementioned 650+ weasels in Parliament. If they stayed out of people’s affairs and let them run their own lives instead of robbing them blind to pay for underperforming monopolistic public services and bludgers who think the world owes them a living then maybe these businessmen would want to pay their taxes here. We might then get sensible government spending on the things we need such as aircraft for our aircraft carriers, policemen to patrol our streets and prisons to lock up the truly immoral people in our society.  I live in hope (its all I have left since they banned handguns).

I think the thrust of my argument is that politicians have created a society (or lack thereof) in which consumerism is rife, gangsterism is ok as long as long as you are rich, the poorest are left with no hope and things are getting worse with the cuts to welfare spending. We're never going to agree on this as your solution is essentially social darwinism and pure capitalism where as mine is collective ownership and decision making, meaningful work for all and the pursuit of beauty and the potential of all human beings for the good of humanity. Maybe we're both dreamers?
