Online Debate with Neil Eyre Tonight

02 May 2011 by Paul Rhoades

This evening VisitScunthorpe.Com will host an online debate / question and answer session with Neil Eyre, Independent candidate for Froddingham. If you'd like to hear Neil's views, or take part with in the debate then go to our home page between 7 and 8 pm today (2nd May) and join in. There's no registration required, and it's anonymous. We have a list of pre-submitted questions from residents in Froddingham, Neil will be answering these this evening, we have also forwarded these to the other candidates and will be posting responses to them when we receive them. Any one can join in with the online chat which will be another first for Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire, so even if you are not in the Froddingham ward we'd love to see you there and encourage every one to take part. Questions submitted so far: How are you going to manage the current budget cuts from central government? Since the council tax has been frozen do you agree that services paid for out of this pot of money should remain the same? The roads are in a terrible state and have been getting worse over the last two years. What will you do to ensure more money is not wasted on bad repair jobs? Will you fully disclose just how much money has been borrowed by the council to pay for new buildings and services? Will you ensure that the public transport system runs better due to its public money subsidy? When closures of public facilities are announced will you offer the public the time to offer alternative suggestions to permanent closure? Is the borrowing of approximately 60 million to build a new police building a good idea when other police jobs and services are about to be cut?

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
