North Lincolnshire Council Meeting Live Coverage

30 March 2011 by Paul Rhoades

This evening's North Lincolnshire Council public meeting will be covered live on Visit Scunthorpe. It is anticipated that it will be a lively meeting, with a planned demonstration to save Scotter House and the Lilac's care homes planned to take place from 5pm. We understand that there is media interest from other local outlets, including Look North who we have been told will be there to film and interview protesters. The agenda for this evening's meeting is as follows: 1 Referendum on the Voting System for UK Parliamentary Elections and Local Elections 2011 - Report by the Chief Executive 2 Constitution - Report by the Service Director Legal and Democratic 3 Safeguarding Children and Young People during Election Days in School Premises - Report by the Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel 4 The Strategic Response to Health Inequalities in North Lincolnshire - Report by the Healthier Communities and Older People Scrutiny Panel 5 Local Development Scheme - Report by the Head of Strategic Regeneration, Housing and Development 6 Chief Executive's Report - Oral 7 Forward Plan for the Council. There will then be a series of questions relating to matters raised by councillors and parish councillors followed by questions from the public. We are aware of at least two questions from the public tabled for tonight, one of which has been submitted by Visit Scunthorpe relating to the payment of councillor's allowances based on their attendance at meetings. If you can make the meeting then it starts at 6pm, there will be a live webcast from our home page running from about 4pm covering the protest out side. Members of the public, councillors and any other interested parties can contribute to the live feed using twitter on the hash tag #NLCM

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
