New trees for Central Park

27 September 2010 by Hamst

North Lincolnshire Council from the end of October will start with the next phase of the redevelopment of Central Park with the planting of around 250 trees. The trees which will be planted will be a mix of small, semi mature and saplings including Ash, Hornbeam, Oak and Sycamore. The council is inviting local primary school children to help plant 250 trees that will line the main boulevard linking the park to the Pods Sports Academy. Planting will start at the Kingsway entrance to the Park opposite North Lindsey College. Work will start on planting the trees towards the end of October and the council has written to all infant, junior and primary schools inviting their children to take part. The council will hold a register of the names of those children who are chosen to plant the trees with first ten children to apply to have their tree named after them. This latest phase is part of the 2m project to rejuvenate Central Park, in July this year the new 400.000 childrens play area was opened funded by money from North Lincolnshire Council & Yorkshire Forward. Further work in the park will see the fountain upgraded too.
