New Trees Vandalised

08 April 2011 by Hamst

A number of young sapplings around the town have secumbed to vandalism being snapped at the base of their trunks. It's heart-breaking to see the councils work with residents to improve their local streets being mindlessly vandalised like this, its also hugely demoralising for the council workforce who planted them . Local people enjoy these trees and like to see them planted to help make neighbourhoods a more pleasant place to live. This kind of vandalism not only destroys the young trees, it makes the streets less appealing, and costs the taypayers money to replant. Its a good civic gesture by the council to nurture these saplings and then for someone to deliberately come along and do this is just disgraceful. Buckingham Avenue The mindless minority only waste public money and have no respect for anyone or anything, its not the first time vandals have destroyed attempts to enhance the town and it certainly wont be the last as there is always a small minority of people who continue to carry out mindless acts like these. Davy Avenue Theses trees are not only there for the current generation but there for future genrations to enjoy, even those who have commited the vandalism . The council and their emploees work hard and tirelessly to make the town a better place and are currently nearing the end of the rejuvention of Central Park with many new tress and sapplings having been planted, it would be a shame if some of these trees were to meet the same fate.

What a great shame. Central Park is beginning to look great, especially with all the new trees around the play area. I hope the forthcoming summer doesn't bring out all the vandals too.

Complete lack of respect for their environment, and total lack of self respect for them selves. This kind of property damage really should not be tolerated, trees, street furniture, the local environment, owned by us all collectively and paid for by residents through their council tax. I hope that whoever did this gets caught and prosecuted, absolutely no need for it what so ever.
