Dead Fish in the Beck

I have just taken the dogs for a walk along the Bottesford Beck as I do most days, due to the inclemency of the last two days they had road work instead so today is the first I have noticed that there are dead fish all along the stretch I walked, From Bottesford Church to Messingham road, at first I thought TaTa had had an accident again but now I can only assume that these were release's from the pond as could still see healthy shoals of the resident fish.

My main worry at the moment is that these dead fish of which I counted in excess of 30 do not pollute the Beck for the resident fish, as the population is now quite large and healthy looking, would the Environmental agency care to leave this one to late or act now, Being a resident down this end I know they patrol fairly often during the wetter months, not seen them lately though.

Not sure on breed, not that up on them, though did look like Carp, various sizes, I walked the stretch from the St Peters church towards Messingham road, I did see the usual shoals that are normally there.

should be a map view.

I have uploaded a few photos of the dead fish that are still there even after the recent rain that tends to flush the Beck, these are being held by weeds or trapped in the edges of the slower moving water, there is a quite strong odour also coming of them as well

Having had dealing regarding the Beck before I remembered having contact detail for council officers so I sent off a couple of Emails to them and I have had replies, first from Tim Allen, head of Environment Team.
"Hi nigel
Not sure about the beck fish. We have not put any fish or water in the beck. I went down this morning and saw a few dead fish in the beck. I have reported this to the EA and asked that they investigate. I will let you know what come of this. On a positive note we have managed to get almost all of the fish out of the pond. Just a thought but have local rescued the odd fish and put them in the beck ?

Cheers

Tim"
and one from Patricia Rennison, Environmental Protection Officer
"Hi Mr Milner,

Thank you for your email in respect of the above matter. I have spoken to Tim Allen, head of our Environment Team and he has been down to the beck this morning, he has notified the fisheries officer at the Environment Agency(EA) and has told me that none of the activities involved in the concrete pond incident have impacted upon the beck nor have any fish been transferred to the beck. Whatever is responsible for the dead fish in the beck will now be investigated by the EA.

Kind regards

Pattie"
