What absolute nonsense. Where do you think these people are going to live? Where will they come spend their money? This is the perfect excuse to get rid of the bridge tolls and remove the barriers and we'll all benefit. There's about a 10 mile distance between the two sites as the crow flies. It's great news for the area at a time when thousands are unemployed.

I, like the two industry leaders quoted in the Scunthorpe Telegraph, see the benefits of Siemens coming to this area and it is great news for the Humber region - of which we are a part - as a whole. Rather than being negative, we should all be ecstatic that this region will be at the forefront of modern technology and that one of the industry's major players holds our area with such high esteem that they have decided to invest heavily and locate here. Their decision will put this region clearly on the map and will, without doubt, create a new image of our area - an image which will sell our area to other investors.

Valerie, Emotions are running very high on this one I can see. However, due the the personal nature of the comments you have made towards the original poster I feel you have left me with no choice other than to remove your comment. The Visit Scunthorpe web site tries to attract lively, constructive and informed debate. Calling some one names is neither constructive or informative. What were they supposed to do, OP? Just put out negative news stories like 'South Bank Plan A Non-Starter So Whats The Point In Trying'? No one has promised anything, and there has been a hell of a lot of work gone into this by several private sector leaders in the Humber region. As has been said, focus should now be on the public enquiry into tolls on the bridge, and ways of getting them scrapped. Emphasis should be even more so on AbleUK for the other manufacturers looking to invest in the UK, Siemens are only one of the many, and we are still competing with a number of areas in the UK for further investment. Being from the North Bank, some of the attitudes towards investment on each others opposite banks is quite depressing. Like it or not, both sides of the river need each other, unfortunately the bridge tolls have held back the potential of the Humber region, but get them scrapped and then the whole region would see a new era of economic vitality! The private sector lead Humber LEP should be given the go-ahead by the government, hopefully then it will cut out the meddling councillors altogether. I have everything crossed for some more major international companies investing, next time on the south bank!!
