Live Comedy Comes Home

21 August 2011 by TFi

Despite a widely applauded and thoroughly enjoyable 1st night Full House presentation at The Light on Oswald Road in July, ALL future Comedy Events at The Light have been cancelled.

Contrary to the malicious online ramblings of the Mental Minority on the Scunthorpe Telegraph Forums the REAL REASON for the cancellations is far less salacious. Quite simply, The Light entered into negotiations for the transfer of ownership and as such they were unable to honour the future events they asked TFi to book for them.

Therefore on 11th August all the booked acts were informed of the situation, all their dates were cancelled and TFi called timed on a 12 month run of dodgy Scunthorpe venues. TFi was going to Siam, Sienna, Vienna, Verona, Java, Jamaica, Bombay, Barcelona, Hull, Doncaster, Goole or Hull ….. Anywhere but Scunthorpe and it’s unreliably managed hostelries.

And then I got a phone call. ....... “Would you be prepared to bring your comedy gigs to Henry’s Nightclub ? – the "Spiritual Home of Scunthorpe Live Comedy”

Let’s see: A venue managed by sensible and trustworthy locals - a 25 year history of proven reliability and excellence in the entertainment industry - and a plush upmarket venue?

So starting in early October “Live Comedy is Coming Home to Henry’s” and TFi is bringing some stunning nights of Live Comedy and some of the most outstanding performers on the UK Comedy scene …… but with a twist.

Once the comedy show is over the venue flips back to a nightclub and it’s “DISCO !!” through to the wee small hours. This should all be very jolly – full details, dates and line-ups will be announced shortly.

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.
