Labour Councillor Launches New Blog

07 May 2011 by Scunny Independent News

Cllr Andrea Davison has launched a new blog. Her first post unsurprisingly comments on the events of the last 48 hours, and the defeat of Labour by the Tories in the local North Lincolnshire Elections. Andrea expresses her concerns that the change in leadership will lead to a downward spiral for the town, and approximately 2,000 council employees being under threat of loosing their jobs Andrea also comments in her blog about some irregularities at one of the polling stations. We've already made some enquiries into this having been alerted to the fact that there were two disturbances at the Centenary Church polling station on Smith Street, by a member of the public. Once we have more details about this, we'll do an update to go with the photos we have. Any one who is concerned for the future welfare of the town and its citizens following the change of leadership may be interested to know about the CoR's next meeting planned for the 11th May at 7:30 at Highfield House on Francis Street. We'll be there, and hope that Andrea can make it along with other readers of Visit Scunthorpe so that a proper assessment of the potential cuts under the new administration can be made. We are always on the look out for new blogs and websites in the area, if you have a none commercial web site or blog which you would like to promote via Visit Scunthorpe please feel free to do so. We will also build a list of local blogs on our new home page when that goes live, please, email Editors@VisitScunthorpe.Com to be included, and post us a reciprocal link.

Will she stop blogging if they have a bad defeat or their mate gets found guilty of the biggest fraud in westminster history? Kirk and Grant should lose more graciously and to try pretend they had no part in supporting parliament's biggest ever crook is a disgrace. We all saw the scruffy bunch on the steps backing Morley

Cant say i will be following her blog. on the two occasions i have met her she comes across as nice but the second you say something that she doesnt like, not only does she let you know about it but the people immediately around her. Not in the nice way either. i may not agree with a persons opinion, i may be completely opposed to it, but i respect a persons right to have and express that opinion. Now she is a councillor she is going to have to represent peoples views in her ward and i dont think she will if that view/opinion conflicts with her party/persoanl beliefs. i think she will ignore that person. only time will tell, and four years from now, if she has listened to and represented her ward she will be re-elected (unless everyone in her ward just votes Labour because they hate the tories and are given no alternate voting options) other peoples experiences of her will greatly differ from mine of course. im sure all the people who voted for her have nothing but possitive things to say about her, which cancels out the negative thing i have said. oh and before anyone rants about what i just said. my opinion of her is formed by the personal interactions i have had with her. Im sure there are people who have met me and have decided after two interactions that im not a nice person, the difference being i am not a person in a position of authority who is now expected to actively represent a few thousand people, she is.

Going off an account of an interchange with another candidate on her patch, I suspect that you are not far off the mark. And by all accounts it was a classic case and further blatant demonstration of the insincerity, double standards and hypocrisy that are rife in North Lincolnshire's local government and political circles. Moreso within Scunthorpe's Labour camp!

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
