High Winds
12 September 2011 by HamstHigh winds have brought problems across the region with roads, rail and power supplies reported to have sufferied disruption.
The strong winds are being caused by a low pressure system due to the fallout from Hurricane Katia weakening over the Atlantic Ocean and sweeping across the UK . Forcaster have predicted that the highest winds are expected during the evening today, Monday 12th September, however not they're not expected to reach anywhere near Hurricane force levels.
The car park at the Mallard public house at the junction of Scotter Road & Burringham Road had to be partially closed off after a large branch fell from one of the Weeping Willow trees in the pubs grounds. It was cordened off as a safety precaution and diners wishing to use the restaurant were asked to use the entrance to the lounge.
