Heritage Open Day 12th September

06 September 2010 by Paul Rhoades

Every year on four days in September the public are given access to properties and buildings around the UK which they would not normally have access to. These may be private residences with some sort of historical value or homes which would normally charge, but do not on this particular day. This Sunday 12th September, there will be a walking tour of Froddingham which will include looking at one of the restored Rolland Winn terraces build for the workers at the Froddingham works. Just to clarify, I've just met David Taylor who will be conducting the tour, and he's pointed out to me that it will not be possible to go into one of these properties. The tour meets outside Froddingham School in Rowland Road at 2pm and is free. However, to attend you will need to book your place by contacting the museum on 01724 843533 or by emailing them at museum@northlincs.gov.uk. Also of note, there is a train tour of the Corus Works this Saturday at 1:30 and lasts about 2.5 hours. Again this is free but must be booked, this time through the Brigg Tourist Information office on 01652 657053. The tour of Corus works is open to any one over the age of 10.

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
