I had a look around the Hazard House situated on the towns Priory Lane last week, it was officially opened on Friday 1st July 2011 by local MP Nic Dakin.
The Hazard House is marketed as a unique home safety training venue which raises awareness of accidents, hazards and concerns around the home and garden. It is a multi-agency initiative, supported by the Local Strategic Partnership and although it is primarily designed to help service professionals and volunteers identify risks, hazards and safety concerns for when they enter a real home environment it is also available for use by the wider public, including service users, community groups and tenants.
There are numerous rooms within the Hazard House including a lounge, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, stairs and a garden. All these rooms have potential hazards which to the untrained eye may not at first look to pose any concern but the team are on hand to help educate and point out potential hazards ranging from blankets over bar fires, children’s toys near to unguarded open fires and detergents within easy reach of young ones to unguarded stairs, messy cat litter trays and overgrown gardens hiding potential hazards.
Office space is also available to hire along with a 6 person capacity meeting room or a 20 persons training room.

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.
Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute
independently with articles of their own.
You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.
Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.
Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
