Good news for workers at Foxhills

18 July 2011 by Paul Rhoades

The council have today announced that following a review, the number 4 bus service will be extended to cover Foxhills Industrial Park with effect from the 22nd July.

This is welcome news for workers at the 2 Sisters poultry processing plant on Ram boulevard who's shifts the extra services have been timed to coincide with.

currently about 60 staff make use of a works bus to take them to their shifts at 6am, 2pm and 10pm. Following a revision of this service, the local Hornsby bus company, in conjunction with the council, have agreed to extend their near by router to Brigg and Broughton to accommodate Foxhill's Industrial Estate.

In a brief statement released earlier, Liz Redfern, leader of the council said

“Helping people travel to work is a priority for the council.

“We have altered the route of an existing bus service to ensure people working at the Two Sisters factory can get to their shifts on time.

“This will help protect local jobs and be of benefit to both the factory workers and a major local employer.”

Is this a route that you use? Do readers think bus services should be extended to other industrial parks and business centers in the area, or are the services there adequate?

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
