Choose-To-Reuse on Enderby Road
The What We Are Proud Of Awards celebrate outstanding projects run by housing associations across the country and is organised by The National Housing Federation. The awards are sponsored by supermarket chain Morrisons and there will be regional events will be advertised shortly and are open for anyone to attend. Attendess at the event will vote to decide the regional winner who will then go forward to the national judging event. Judges meet in July to announce The National Winner and a Highly Commended entrant who will win 1000 and 500 respectively to reinvest back in to their projects.
The centre of Enderby Road, which opened at the end of last year, takes in unwanted goods from people and sells it, at low cost, to those who are struggling to set up home. They take in anything from sofas, beds, chairs, desks, curtains to linen, ornaments and kitchenware. They do ask that items are clean, re-usable and in good order, with all fixtures and fittings.
The Choose-To-Reuse centre is open to NLH tenants who are on housing benefits where they can get a 20 per cent discount in store. There is also a scheme by which people who are referred from housing officers with absolutely nothing can get a support pack providing 50 worth of furniture.

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.
Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute
independently with articles of their own.
You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.
Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.
If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.
Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
