Froddingham Rd Residents Parking

Plans are afoot to introduce a parking scheme to Froddingham Road, one of Scunthorpe’s busiest thoroughfares.

Residents and businesses along Froddingham Road will be receiving a letter over the next few days explaining in detail where the changes will be made, and asking for feedback to be provided by the 1st July.

The letter suggests that the scheme will be in effect initially for 18 months, and will cost residents in the region of £50 per permit.

According to information provided by the council in their consultative letter, the £50 cost per vehicle will be used to cover the costs of additional signage, road markings and ongoing administration. What is not clear however is if this will be a one off or annually recurring charge.

Currently restrictions are in place preventing return within a two hour time period. The new proposals will see residents exempt from this restriction.

The proposed scheme comes after a petition was launched by residents complaining about problematic parking arrangements on Froddingham road. The new proposal will see a 2 hour limit with 2 hour no return area being introduced to the south of Sheffield street.

A 1 hour, no return within 2 hours section will then be introduced on the east side of the road north of Sheffield street continuing up to Detuyl Street.
