Entertainment Lineup - Baths Hall & Plowright

19 September 2010 by Paul Rhoades

Earlier this week the new Baths Hall operator was appointed and named as SMG Europe Holdings Ltd. It is hoped that SMG will add to the already broad repertoire which appears at the existing Plowright Thearte and the new Baths Hall when it is completed next year. The Plowright Theatre already attracts a series of diverse and highly accredited acts, and will in the run up to Christmas host performances by Midge Ure, Phil Cool and the Rudolf Nureyev Russian State Ballet Academy. In addition to this the Plowright is also used by many local drama, dance and art groups for performances. This included the Hospital Players, Hull Truck Theatre, Kimberly School of Dance and the local Gilbert and Sullivan society who will all be performing in the run up to Christmas. As the Plowright will be the last remaining public theatre, once the management of this is taken over by SMG there is some concern that the cost of hiring the facility by local organisations may go up and become prohibitive. In a press release from North Lincolnshire Council, SMG represent the following acts which should be available to visit the town subject to availability: Jamie Cullum Jack Jones Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra David Essex Lesley Garrett Glenn Miller Orchestra Kate Nash The Streets Dizzee Rascal Lost Prophets Manic Street Preachers The Saturdays English National Ballet Northern Ballet Theatre Armstrong and Miller Ed Byrne Stuart Lee Grumpy Old Woman Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat Blood Brothers Chicago

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works
