Crosby Public House Saved from Demolition

22 November 2010 by Paul Rhoades

North Lincolnshire Council's Planning department have rejected a planning application to demolish the Crosby Public House and instead erect a care home in its place. Planners were concerned about the impact that the 3 story building would have on other existing properties in the area and rejected the proposal due to the fact that suitable drawings showing what this impact would be were not submitted by the developer.

Having kept a close eye on this the only two failings in this application where that the proposal fails to comply with policy H16 (Nursing and Rest Homes) and DS1 (General Requirements) of the North Lincolnshire Local Plan. The planners had requested drawings and they weren't forthcomming. All other bodies who were consulted gave no reason for the plans not to go ahead. I fear this wont be the last we hear of this and a resubmission of the plans including the drawings will be put in. I don't think The Crosby Hotel is fully out of the woods yet.

Glad, By conspiracy, if you mean the contradictions and double standards that are rife in certain quarters of this parochially and politically divisive backwater and its local government? Trust me, I have become conditioned to the constant stench!

Come on guys, lets stick to the point, an important architectural land mark has a stay of execution. How about putting some effort in to trying to protect it?

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
