Ever thought about recycling your real Christmas tree?
It is said most of the eight million trees bought each Christmas will be thrown away after December, generating over 12,000 tonnes of additional rubbish. One way to recycle is for trees that have root-balls that have been watered regularly can be re-planted in your garden after the festive season then reused the follow year, however most will be simply thrown away.
Whilst other local authorities will collect Christmas trees along with residents garden waste bins and other councils have a call up service were residents can simply call a number to organise for their tree to be collected here in North Lincolnshire the council offers no such service.
Anyone in North Lincolnshire who wants to recycle the Christmas trees could either chip them up and place them in their brown bins or take them to one of the eight local Household Recycling Centres.

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.
Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute
independently with articles of their own.
You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.
Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
