arrestedKirton in Lindsey ground to a halt at around 3pm this afternoon following a pursuit spanning three counties.

Offices from South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Humberside police worked together to foil a car theft which started in South Yorkshire and Ended in the driveway of a shop in Kirton in
 Lindsey.

According to police sources, a vehicle was stolen from the South Yorkshire area earlier today, and was abandoned on the High Street in Kirton Lindsey, North Lincolnshire at around 3 pm.

Following the abandonment what was described by police as a "thorough" search was conducted around the town and two males were arrested close to the scene.

The excitement brought residents out of their homes and businesses to witness a cordon thrown around the small North Lincolnshire town consisting of more than a dozen officers, two police vans, approximately 6 police cars and a police helicopter.

At around 15:40 a suspect was apprehended close to the junction of the Hight Street and North Cliff road.

Police later reported that two men had been arrested in connection with the incident and that further enquiries are ongoing.

Speaking to Visit Scunthorpe this evening, Sargent James Main, Community Sergent for Scunthorpe South told us "'this is an excellent example of cross border working between three forces and shows travelling criminals are just as likely to be caught by a neighbouring force as they are in the force area where the crime was committed."
