Budget Implications

20 June 2010 by Paul Rhoades

Speculation is rife in the media today about what's going to happen next week in the budget. ConDemocrats are still blaming Labour for spending money they did not have, and keep banging on about "Structural Deficit". They cite this as being the problem when ever they have to explain why they are failing to protect poorer families by increasing VAT and reducing benefits for the needy. So what is Structural Deficit? And is it all Labour's fault? Structural deficit is a term used to describe what underlying debt would exist once the recovery is under way. Its this terrible structural deficit which is (according to the ConDemoncrats) the reason why we need to cut so hard and so deep. However, the Office for Budget Responsibility (which was set up by Cameron to advise Government) has said that the deficit is actually less than that projected by Labour, not more! So already we see the Tories saying one thing, doing another and using the press to spin the public in the other direction. Economists say the underlying structural deficit under labour was just 3% prior to the 50 Billion bank bail out. After the bail out structural deficit was calculated to be 10%. This is why the ConDemocrats are now seeking to increase VAT, remove child allowance, freeze public sector pay, reduce essential benefits and cut back on social schemes such as free swimming. It's so they can continue to bail out their friends the bankers. I did notice though that one of the proposals will be a 900 Million sweetener for small businesses who can avoid paying National Insurance on their first 10 employees. This has been billed as "creating 30,000 jobs" but in essence its a 900 Million tax break for the self employed of middle England. Good to see the ConDemocrats rewarding and thanking the people of Scunthorpe in such a positive manner; however looking at how the liberal back bencher's are getting cold feet it might be sooner than we think before the next election.

I am in the process of starting a limited company, hopefully there will be three employees including myself,I am not middle England. This tax break for start up companies will be some thing that helps us get a foothold in a construction industry decimated because of Labour policies. It's a good socialist policy to help people to work. Answer to your question is simple, yes it's all Labour's fault ,they decided the best way to fund a socialist state was to let rampant capitalists get away with financial murder and it backfired big style ,you reep what you sew. We all have to pay for it for years to come, with fewer public and social services .Some of which are just nose wiping for the terminally lazy any how

Like you Fans I'm also a small business owner, we've been established a few years so sadly the tax breaks won't help us. Hope your business gets up and running successfully, if you'd like an advert on here to promote your business please let me know, I've got to agree with you that its a long time since the Labour party was a socialist party!
