Working with the Baths Hall on Doncaster Road, we've got an exciting opportunity for local residents to become involved in our first ever public photo exhibition.
As many of you will know, we like to encourage residents of North Lincolnshire to take and send in photographs of what's going on in their community, and these get posted in the gallery on our main site. This is one of the more popular aspects of our site and always gets a good response. http://www.visitscunthorpe.com/ScunthorpePhotos
The Baths Hall have recently held an exhibition of work by local artist Lee Coleman, which was very highly acclaimed and has been seen by thousands of visitors to the baths over the last few months. Yesterday we met with the management team from the Baths Hall and showed them just a small selection of some of the photos our regular contributors have taken from around the area, with a view to developing a "North Lincolnshire Collection" to display to the public.
The Baths have now agreed to allow Visit Scunthorpe to put on an exhibition using their exhibition space downstairs which will last 3 months and will be open to the public on a daily basis. We are looking to display in total around 20 different images, we've already got some from our regular posters which we will be using, but we want to involve as many members of the community in this as possible.
We want you guys to become the stars of the show by sending in your photographs of the region.
Here's what we are looking for.
We've put together a basic gallery which shows the culture, lifestyle and diversity of the North Lincolnshire region. This means that we want photographs of not just Scunthorpe, but of the towns, villages and countryside of the surrounding area. We are looking for clear detailed photographs showing the many different aspects of the area. This could be buildings, people, places, animals, locations, literally anything, as long as it is in North Lincolnshire and is taken by a North Lincolnshire resident.
The exhibition space is quite large, so the photograph will need to be of a suitable size and quality to be printed at at least A3/B3 size and preferably A2/B2 size.
There is no restriction on the subject matter, nor on how old the photograph is, for consideration it just must be yours and taken in North Lincolnshire.
How to get involved
In the first instance you will need to submit a small JPG version of your photographs for us to have a look at.
Photographs should be submitted with a short information sheet (200 words maximum) saying what the photograph is, and where it was taken.
You can submit as many photographs as you wish, each submission should be made on an individual email.
Submissions may consist of either
1 or 2 large photographs (A2 / A3 size)
4 or 5 Smaller A5/A4 photographs to be displayed in a single frame
1 Panorama shot
If your photograph is selected for the gallery then you will be responsible for printing the photograph to a suitable quality, and for mounting it in an acceptable frame. Photographs need to be mounted in a plain black or white wooden frame which can be securely fixed to the wall in the gallery. I'm looking to see if any of the local printing and framing businesses can help out with this in any way, and again if its something residents can get involved with then that would be a big help too.
Neither Visit Scunthorpe or the Baths Hall will take any responsibility for the loss or damage of any prints submitted, selection of photographs to be included in the gallery will be at the discretion of the Visit Scunthorpe founders group.
Make your submission via email to Editors@VisitScunthorpe.Com or via our href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/194989023874592">facebook page or twitter account
