Alan Lal White

17 April 2012 by johnpaul1970

I read with great interest the great article on Olympic cyclist Alan Lal White.
I'm so glad we know a little bit about Lal now, cos last time his name was mentioned, I think on the radio, no one seem to know very much about the old lad !! (still no news on his siver medal then? Where it is? - does he have any living relatives then?) its such a shame how our only local Olympian seems to be all but forgotten about...
Now bearing in mind it's the Olympics in London this year, is nt it a shame we in Scunthorpe can't do something to commentate this mans great achievements?? Why is there no plaque to this man anywhere in the town? We ve got the Jack Brownsword Way - why have we not got an Lal White Way ?
Come on North Lincs Council let's commemorate Lal White in this of all years 2012 Olympic year!!

Hi John,

We've got an interview with Cycle Song, a community opera celebrating the life and achievements of Lal White which we are going to be publishing on the site in a couple of weeks. We've also got some Cycle Song goodies to give away to members who post and comment on the articles here, so if you've not already signed up and got a Visit Scunthorpe account now would be a good time to do it.

Thanks for posting the article.

Regards
Paul.

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
