Why should I pay for these people's food?

12 March 2011 by fans64

Why should I pay for these people's food? "The biggest claimant was Steve Swift, who claimed 1,573.70 between April 2010 and January 2011. The other four who claimed more than 1,000 are Tony Ellerby who claimed 1,513.80, Mick Grant who claimed 1,471.25, Mark Kirk who claimed 1,341.50 and Darrell Barkworth who claimed 1,172.25." Copied direct from the ST ,read the full story there Sorry to put in the news section Paul But I know their mates read this. It is nothing short of a disgrace that we pay for their food. When I work away my company doesn't give me a food allowance why should I pay for this?

Fans, I've moved this to the comment section. I'm a bit concerned you've pasted a paragraph from the ET web site, if we get challenged over it I'll mail you to re-write it. It's very interesting to see that the "leaked" data does not mention any Tory's expenses, and that Cllr L Redfern and the ET are once again trying their hardest to paint the local Tories with a holier than thou image. Just remember how they screwed the town up last time you let them. End of the day lets be honest, the Tories would cut expenses so that the working classes could not afford to stand against them and partake in the democratic process. The Tory way ensures that "business men", bored Tory housewives, Lib Dem scabs and the local retired gentle folk would be able to stand unopposed, and keep the likes of you and me in our places.

Oh Mr Fans, you really are a damp lettuce. If the ST told you the moon was made of cheese YOU would be daft enough to believe it, wouldn't you? When I read in the ST that it's dark at night, I go outside to check for myself. Mr Fans, you really do need to have a talk to yourself.

And I know a couple of Vodafone executives who don't pay a penny in tax. And I know some Premiership footballers who avoid paying tax. And I know a lot of well off people who make sure that everything goes offshore. This is small-time, Mr Fans, and you are suckered into it. Look to the real shysters, Mr Fans, start with the names Cameron, Osborne, Goldsmith, Benyon and carry on working through the whole damned corrupt bunch.

You start with Tories? I am nobodies sucker,I am sick and tired of fat councillors living the life at my expense. You are blinded by your labour tinted specs I am not. Tax loop holes are an abomination and hopefully they will get shut but your labour chums failed in the 13 years they spent bankrupting the country again so why should the dastardly Tores fair any better? Al the people above you claim to know ,do you tackle them when you have them round for Dinner? It seems odd to have a bunch friends that you despise so much

I'm with 'fans' on this one. These are the people who are closing vital services whilst living it up on expenses. Small time it may be, but that doesn't make it right I hate the Tories more than most but their odious goings on don't excuse Labour councillors from taking expenses and at the same time attacking our services Unfortunately valerie, 'fans' is right that Labour had the oportunity to put right the tax loop holes but prefered to make Britain 'attractive to business'. I hope the ConDem coalition is forced from office but I have no illusions that Labour would be much better.

Martin, these are the people who are being forced to do the Government's dirty work. Yes, there is a level of "living it up" but the ST is wrong to point the finger of suspicion in only one direction. Has anyone, for example, asked exactly how much local Conservative representatives were taking from tax-payers during the period when they refused to attend any North Lincolnshire Council Meetings. On a similar train of thought, whilst certain members are claiming for food it at least proves that they are at Pittwood House doing what they are elected to do, represent us. Can Liz and her disjointed group of local shop-keepers and farmers prove that they have been similarly representing those that elected them. Unfortunately not. This, in my eyes at least, makes them somewhat, to use Mr Fans terminology, immoral; taking money under false pretences. And when they choose to deliberately take that money in return for doing nothing then it becomes a far more serious issue. That, I believe, is called theft.

you are right Val they should also ask the Tories these questions .The ST does point out Tory expenses you'd know if you'read it but you don't read the ST? Is it not a fact more labour types have been found guilty and been to court nationally in the Parliamentary expenses scandal? I don't care what party it is,unlike Val,I expect the same standards from everyone, I don't cry "they did it 1st sir" when my mates get caught out. The expenses of councilors are not wrong because of who is taking them but because they are allowed to. Val you seriously prove my point about Party politics every time you post,it is the single worst thing about the governance of this country. The party is more important than the policy for your sort.

One thing we all seem to agree on then is that if tax was collected and loop holes closed then we'd not need all these cuts. Sadly I think this shower are as likely to do it as Blair! Any one got details of Tory expenses to date? Seems they were not leaked to the paper so if any one has them pls let me know, otherwise there will be an FOI going I'n for them on Monday morning which I'd rather avoid as it just ties up council staff's time

Interstingly I recieved an A3 double sided leaflet from the Tories the day after the information was revealed in the Telegraph. Unfortunately for them it made me hate them (the tories) even more.
