Visit Scunthorpe to broadcast CoR Meeting Live

17 February 2011 by Paul Rhoades

This evening the Coalition of Resistance will be holding another public meeting to address the cuts to public services which are planned for the area. The meeting will commence at 7:30pm at Central Community Center, Laneham Street, Scunthorpe. This evening's meeting sounds like it's going to be interesting as CoR will not only be listening to two speakers, but they will be planning for a demonstration to be held next week while NLC hold their annual budget meeting. VisitScunthorpe.Com will be at the meeting trying out their first ever live broadcast using a system tested by some of our users yesterday. The live broadcast will appear on the home page of the Visit Scunthorpe web site, and will allow users to view what's going on, ask questions and make suggestions while the meeting is going on. If all goes to plan, we will be able to see these messages from inside the meeting, and will also be able to post a feed outlining what's going on. As this is our first live broadcast using this technology we are very reliant on mobile 3G networks so do please bare with us as we try this out for the first time. We hope if it proves to be successful to be able to bring you a feed from the North Lincolnshire Council Budget meeting next Wednesday. Visitors to the site will be able to post directly to the meeting's feed, but please be aware all comments will require activation, as I'll be there with only a phone it may be a delay in posting. So the chances are it could yet fall flat on its face! Users with a twitter account will be able to post directly to the live feed using the twitter hash tag #NLCB which we will also use to cover the meetings and demonstrations planned for next week. If you are on twitter, please use the #NLCB hash tag to voice our opinions on the proposed council tax freeze and the forthcoming North Lincolnshire Council Budget over the coming week. Visit Scunthorpe welcomes all comment from all political spectrum's providing as always poster's do not launch personal attacks on individuals.

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
