Scunthorpe United seek Stadium Sponsor

18 May 2012 by Visit Scunthorpe Editors

In an announcement made today, Scunthorpe United have stated that they would be prepared to change the name of their stadium to accommodate a suitable stadium sponsor.

A statement released today says [Imagine]"Everytime on Gilette Soccer Saturday Jeff Stelling says "Lets go over to Glanford Park" this could be your business he's giving air time to."

Replacing the Old Showground in 1988, Scunthorpe United have played from Glanford Park for the last 23 years, and while the move will strengthen the club financially, there is no guarantee that this is a move which will be supported unanimously by Iron fans. A recent campaign has resulted in the road leading to the current ground being renamed Brownsword Way, but with many fans suggesting for a long time that the stadium should be renamed to honor Jack Brownsword, this may be a move which some could see as controvertial.

With lots of support from many local Scunthorpe businesses already sponsoring signage at the ground, who do you think may be in a position to become the official stadium sponsor, and would this affect the existing signage and sponsorship we've come to recognise?
