Scunthorpe Fire Station Visit
19 June 2012 by dgbaxendaleEarlier this evening, when most Dads wanted to get home and watch the football, 2nd Messingham Brownies took their fathers along to Scunthorpe Fire Station as a belated Fathers Day treat. Here we met fire fighter Steve Heath-Drury from Blue watch who gave us a very interesting and entertaining presentation on the fire service and fire prevention. We also got to see the trucks, equipment and even try out the hoses. It was so good I didn’t even realise I was late for the match. The educational benefit for the Brownies and grown-ups alike was plain to see and I suggest that all youth group leaders should try and arrange a visit. Prevention and education is an important part of the fire service’s remit and the unsung heroes at Scunthorpe Fire station do it so well.
On behalf of the Brownies and their Dads I would like thank Steve and his colleagues for an excellent visit.
