Potholes

04 February 2011 by Hamst

North Lincolnshire residents can now find out when the council will repair potholes in their area. North Lincolnshire Council have added a webpage to their site which will be updated on a weekly basis with the list of streets that are set to be targeted for pothole repairs that week, starting with the streets being repaired in the week commencing 31 January 2011. The council announced it had embarked on a major scheme to repair potholes following the coldest December on record. They have already repaired around 2,000 potholes out of 8,000 that were identified, eight gangs are at work aiming to get the job done by the end of February. Cllr Bernard Regan, cabinet member for highways and planning, said: We experienced the coldest December on record and unfortunately it has taken its toll, leaving a legacy of potholes scattered across North Lincolnshire. We are pulling out all the stops to get the repairs work done quickly. We are dealing with the most dangerous potholes first and these will be done within 24 hours of being identified. But we have to be realistic about what we can achieve. We have diverted crews from other road schemes to deal with potholes repairs, so we are doing what all we can to ensure the roads are safe."
