The recent Scunthorpe Town Ward by-election victory for the Labour Party and Mr Haque Katarie is in my humble opinion somewhat depressing especially as the victor is a business gentleman.
Given the years in power in Scunthorpe of the Labour Party Administration and its lack of financial restraint in public spending and socialist philosophy of general subsidising in keeping with the years in power of a Labour government which left the UK with a £1 trillion debt a labour victory is somewhat surprising.
Although Scunthorpe has a long history of alliance to the Labour Party and socialism, it is clear that even with the legacy of huge debts certain sections appear unable to grasp the financial reality of the legacy that has been bequeathed to them by returning an adherent to a free spending philosophy.
Whilst it is clear that the UK Labour Party is not solely responsible for the £1 trillion debt but their fundamental belief in free public spending and general subsidising of society cannot absolve them.
I personally consider that there are only two political ways to go. One is the Labour Party and socialism the other is with Conservatives and a free society of general supply and demand philosophy.
The labour party criteria of looking after people from the cradle to the grave and generally subsidising people and society irrespective of whether there is money to do so and producing thousands of public service bureaucrats is one philosophy.
Whilst there appears some good thoughts in these principles and have been tried here in the UK and many other parts of Europe, the only problem is this socialism as a concept just does not work.
In consideration of the Conservative Party it is clear that if we are ever to get out of the current culture of a dependent society and get back to people being able to stand on their own feet and be responsible for their actions it has got to be with the Conservatives who believe generally in a free society based on supply and demand as a general concept warts and all.
Whilst it is obvious that in a democratic society a government needs an opposition and I would suggest that is where the labour party and socialism should be confined to on a permanent basis.
The alternative is that forever following a labour administration follows financial difficulties for society. If you would like add your own news article to Visit Scunthorpe, Login or sign up, its free and easy and you can start publishing your own content here, straight away.
