No, maybe, oh go on then...

No, maybe, oh go on then... With the Con-Dems struggling to hit home with the some of the biggest cuts in history, Tory politicians and supporters have been frantically trying to make political capital out of their call for a budget freeze which might help shift the spotlight from their otherwise next to none amendments in the EU budget. David Cameron campaigned in the general election as a Eurosceptic who would repatriate powers from Brussels at the first available opportunity and despite pledging several weeks ago that the EU budget would be frozen, it appears they have turned the No, no, no" into a "No, maybe, oh go on then" as Cameron agreed to a 2.9% budget rise, and not the freeze he'd so dearly promised to us all, costing the UK an extra 450m a year. Claiming his victory, Cameron stated that this increase is a lot better than what we were looking at and, it wouldn't have happened without our action." Which, unsurprisingly, is not true, as European governments decided on 2.9% in August, so all-in-all, he has achieved absolutely nothing. Of course, this gets even more interesting, as Cameron stood up at PMQs and accused Labour MEPs of backing a European Parliament call for a 5.9 per cent budget increase. In fact, Labour MEPs voted against the call for a budget increase and were left to propose cuts of more than 1bn to wasteful agricultural subsidies as it was revealed the Tories didnt table a single amendment the final budget package. Needless to say, with Lib-Dems proving to be adept at being political chameleons and watching the Tories tear themselves apart over the EU, people are beginning to see just how unstable this government actually is.
