Local Councillor calls for Action to Save National

11 March 2011 by Scunny Independent News

Mick Grant (Labour Councillor for Ashby Ward) has today on his blog asked constituents to support a campaign to oppose the privatisation of the NHS Blood Transfusion Service. The National Blood Transfusion Service is the organisation which is responsible for the collection, processing and distribution of blood products to patients of the NHS. If you've been in hospital for an operation, then there is a good chance that you will have received a blood product as part of your treatment which was collected from a public Blood Donor's session organised by the Blood Transfusion Service. In Scunthorpe these sessions are held on a regular basis at the Royal Hotel, the next session will be held To from 1:15pm till 4:00pm & 5:00pm till 7:15pm on March 23rd. To make an appointment for this session you can call 0300 123 23 23. The important issue here however is that blood is donated by the public for free, why then should any organisation, government or company be in a position where it can make money from your free gift? You can sign the petition on line to show your opposition, and you can read Mick Grant's thoughts on the matter on his blog.

I's wager this is Union or suchlike mischief making and that there are i fact no plans to privatise the Blood transfusions service. I notice Mick never talks about labour planning to sack loads of staff locally, each day up until the council budget meeting the ST was full of Job they had threatened in all depts .It was shocking to read labour locally wanting to sack so many and put them on the scrapheap. Hal a million in councillors expenses were drawn last year and they talk of sacking much needed local service staff
