It's only ever communities that suffer

07 August 2011 by GaryDay2011

Earlier today watched David Lammy Labour MP for Tottenham on T.V berate those responsible for the carnage inflicted upon his constituents by mindless individual’s hell bent on anarchy or opportunistic criminal intent under the guise of protesting against the state’s authorities in one way or another.

As I record my thoughts on the matter, news reports are coming through that trouble is starting in Enfield, North London. At the same time Scotland Yard announce that 55 people to date have been arrested in connection with the mayhem that occurred in Tottenham.

What was or is their point? I assume that those concerned think they made a point in that they “stuck one on the nose” of the authorities by their blatant disregard for the laws that the authorities uphold, or that they think their actions would get them what they wanted, or that they justified what they did as some form of “Social Right.”

In all these areas they are wrong, because their actions do nothing but hurt those that they purport to support, if that is indeed the true reasons for their actions.  Whenever a riot takes place in a community it is mainly the innocent that get hurt either in body or mind or to their property, but they get hurt. For them, the actions of these mindless imbeciles that covered the period of a few hours will take years to recover from and probably some cases a lifetime if ever.

The people (and I use the term loosely) who commit these acts of wanton violence, theft and destruction do so for no motive other than their own selfish self-centred perceived gains with no consideration of the consequences of their actions.  They are nothing but opportunistic criminals whose crimes range from those vented against the person to those against a person’s property and as such those concerned should all be treated as such with the full weight of the judicial system brought to bear on them to hold them to account.

As I end this post I think of the innocent of Tottenham hurt by these events and their community as whole who are law-abiding and sicken by what’s happened to them.  I also think of the innocent of Enfield in North London tonight as Met Police confirm that 100+ youths have smashed windows and attacked a police car…….for the victims I have sympathy, for the criminals and idiots-they deserve everything they get when the law catches up with them.
