Humber Bridge Enquiry - important information

21 January 2011 by Paul Rhoades

Today I received a letter from Sarah McGarry (sarah.mcgarry@hullcc.gov.uk) at Hull City Council who is the officer in charge of coordinating the Bridge Toll Public Enquiry. This was in response to a letter I sent in complaining about the cost not just to me personally but also the impact of the tolls on my business which requires me to travel across the bridge on a very regular basis, some times more than once a day, to provide IT Support for my customers. People wishing to make a personal presentation at the enquiry need to make their submission to her no later than the 28th of January, along with a questionnaire. Members of the public wishing to speak must make their submissions of no more than 1,500 words to her by the 8th of Feb. On the 15th Feb the bridge board will make their case available for examination at public libraries, the Guild Hall and Bridge Offices. Any one wishing to speak at the enquiry needs to make their intentions know quickly. The enquiry will start at 10:00 am on the 8th March and will be held at The Village Hotel in Hessle (don't worry, its only 5 minutes from the bridge if that!)

why do we want it to be cheaper for more shoppers to go to Hull? Haven't the council done enough damage to the High Street as it is?

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
