Dereliction of duty by Labour councillors

24 July 2011 by fans64

Why do councillors locally feel that the best way to help is to run and hide from the responsibilities, the labour group had teh moral high ground recently over boycotting meetings, quite rightly they made much of Lizzy and her cronies not doing the job asked of them by the local electorate, now we find the local labour group group playing the same game.

I can imagine them now in the playground thumbing their noses and squealing with delete,"ne ne ne ne ne that showed em "

Personally I can think of no bigger reason to sack a councillor,if they refuse to attend a meeting they should call an immediate bye election ,nothing less,if they refuse to attend that should be written in the council constitution as a resignation.

I detest our local councillors to a man,too busy making petty arguments that would not go amiss on the playground and not for the adult world of the council chamber.

From the outset, the whole charade of the threat of closure of the  Lilacs and Scotter House care facilities has been rightly perceived as a blatant political ploy by Labour, come win or LOSE the election. You only have to review the ST readers web comments and earlier VisScun articles on the matter.

Just as much as they tried to draw their feint, broken lines under their mucker, Elliot Morely's MP embarassing and damaging expenses fraud scandal. I believe that their scaremongering and pre election stunt with the Lilacs and Scotter has equally backfired on Labour and will continue to do so.

The above blog by FANS64 is a more than appropriate and deserved condemnation of the NLC Labour group's total lack of political NOUS and their deplorable and contemptible tactics in using the elderly, frail and vulnerable as a political football.

They should all search their consciences!; hang their heads in shame and I agree should seriously consider their positions.

And wasn't it Mark Kirk who ConDemned the Tories for "throttling democracy". And didn't he pledge that Labour would be a constructive and robust opposition and fight for the interests of North Lincolnshire's residents?!

High time that Mark Kirk started to show some semblance of political and moral leadership to get a grip of his people. Alternatively he should equally do the honourable thing.

During their 4 years as the ruling group, I estimate from the 2009 expenses list, that Labour councillors were paid in excess £1.3 million in allowances, special responsibility payments and expenses for child care through to their sandwiches!! And by refusing to turn up for crucial meetings; this is the way that they return the "courtesy and their obligation" to the residents of North Lincolnshire!?

Surely council tax payers and residents cannot continue justifying the remuneration of these people if they cannot be bothered and haven't the backbone to stand up, be counted and, to represent and fight for their communities?!!

I agree with Fans64,

it is a dereliction of duty and i am in agreement with him that they should be fired if they refuse to attend the council as elected representatives.

if they will not provide the representation then they should stand aside or be removed to allow for someone who will provide that representation.

Probably all down to certain of NLC's Labour councillors and their toadying disingenous hangers on; who lack all 'political' calibre, integrity and nous to realise that they cannot get away with lame and witless attempts to stifle dissent and exposure.

High time that these eeejits backed down and learnt the lesson there can be no place for their perceived and outdated union shop style 'bully boy/girl' tactics in a half decent local democracy.

Your comments could be used against you, if indeed I do receive any legal challenge, which of course you have threatened - you know who you are ;)

Councillors who do not attend meetings for six months are disqualified and a by-election is held.
