Battle of the Bids New Baths Halls First Event

23 January 2010 by Scunny Independent News

With the Baths Hall still a hole in the ground the first event to kick off at the new venue looks like a battle of the bids! The council are currently examining bids from 3 companies to run and manage the new Baths Hall once it has been rebuilt. The contenders are in alphabetical order HQ Theatres HQ Theatres currently manage 7 venues mainly in the south of England including the Pavilion and the Palace theatres in Southend and have their head offices is High Holbourn London. S.I.V. Sheffield International Venues Ltd are surprisingly a Sheffield based group who have reportedly boosted Sheffields economy to the tune of 12M in 2009 through the management of the local councils 14 venues across the city. SMG SMG Europe are part of a much larger world wide event management company whos portfolio in the UK includes such prestigious venues as the Manchester Evening News Arena Manchesters Bridge Water Hall and the little known Whitley Bay Playhouse. Lets hope the council stipulate as part of the contract that which ever operator is awarded the contract they must bring at least 4 main stream acts to the new venue each year.

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.
