OFFICERS in North Lincolnshire are appealing for information in connection with an alleged assault that happened between 16:30hrs and 17:00hrs on Bridges Road, Scunthorpe on Saturday 24th December 2011.
In information just released police say a 15-year-old boy was walking with a girl towards a shop on Bridges Road, when it is alleged a verbal altercation took place between himself and two unknown boys.
Following the altercation the boy and girl continued to walk towards the shop. On his way back home, the boy is alleged to have been approached by the two boys, who continued to verbally abuse him before allegedly assaulting him, causing him to sustain injuries to his face, for which he received treatment at Scunthorpe General Hospital.
The offenders are described as being aged between 13-14 years old and wearing dark hooded tops.In recent days a number of witnesses have come forward and spoken to police about the incident, and police are now appealing for anyone else with information to contact them.
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said:
"Although this incident took place a short time ago, police have now had a number of people come forward and provide information, which has helped support the investigation.
"It is thought there may have a number of people in the area at the time of the incident, who may have witnessed what happened and police are appealing for them to come forward."
