Age Uk are inviting people aged 65 and over to join them at Riddings library this Tuesday, 21st September 2010 for their itea and biscuits week (Monday 20 - Sunday 26 September) which aims to introduce people aged 65 and over who have never been online to the Internet and other digital technology. Age UK's itea and biscuits sessions take place at Riddings Library, Willoughby Road, Scunthorpe from 2pm-5pm on 21 September, where there will be experts on hand to guide you every step of the way. It is open to everyone, with a particular emphasis on those new to technology. North Lincolnshire Council spokeswoman, said: itea and biscuits week is a great way for people in later life with little or no experience of technology to get a taste of what the Internet and other digital technology can offer them. Even if you have never been online before, come along and give it a go - it really isnt as hard as you might think! The internet can provide great benefits, from being able to keep in contact with friends and family more easily, making savings online, to pursuing and taking up hobbies. Were inviting people to book a 45-minute slot, where they can get one-to-one help with any aspect of going online - even if its just to get started. Places can be booked by Riddings Library on 01724 865412 - or pop in and reserve a slot in person. Age UK are also asking people of all ages with IT skills to pledge to help an older person to learn how to use digital technologies such as computers, the Internet, mobile phones and digital cameras.

Mission Statement

Visit Scunthorpe is North Lincolnshire's only truly independent, non commercial, community news web site.

Established in January 2010 we have lots of members with a wide range of views who all contribute independently with articles of their own.

You won't find dozens of adverts covering our site, or some poor attempt to promote local business services under the guise of offering a community service.

Here on VisitScunthorpe we are interested in just one thing, building an online community which is representative of the people of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.

Paul. Founder Visit Scunthorpe.

How it Works

If you would like to have the ability to add articles and comments to Visit Scunthorpe then all you need to do is sign up with a valid email address for an account. This is free, your email address is confidential and we don't send out spam emails.

Once you've completed the sign up then you are free to post and comment on well... pretty much anything, we just have some basic civilised rules to prevent people from inciting violence, hatred or making individual attacks.
